Having fun in Japan!

sreda, 22. avgust 2012

Well in these two weeks I have spent in Japan I noticed that it can never be boring. There is just too much going on. So how did me and Dejan spend time? These are just a few examples of the most popular things to do with friends in Tokyo:
So many people!

Shooping

There are just sooo many stores in Tokyo. We did most of our shooping in Akihabara and I already did quite a few blog posts about it, but we also went to Shibuya and Harajuko for some clothes shooping. It is just amazing how many stores you can find and the stores are very large and have a big choice of clothes.

On the streets of Harajuku I also found the store called Bodyline that I am very familiar with. It was a quite popular store, there were so many people buying lolita styled clothes there.

They had a very big choice of clothes and it felt very good to examine the clothes before buying them (you do not really get that chance on the web store). XD

Taking pictures was forbidden, but Dejan just couldn't resist and secretly took some. Enjoy!

They have so many lolita dresses!

Cosplay section, with many schoolgirl uniforms.

We also met some really cool people! :D

Game centers

You can find many game centers in Tokyo and they are always crowded with Japanese gamers. There is always something to do there and for me one of the best places to be. Every one can find an arcade game that is fitting for them.

I mostly try out the UFO machines (the ones for pulling prizes out). They are very easy to use and you can always get something out. Also the staff is very friendly, if they see you having a hard time getting a prize out they help out a bit (but do not tell anyone). :P

Beside the UFO machines...
The thing I enjoyed most was the Miku Hatsune Project Diva arcade game. It is like the best game ever and also very popular in Japan!

Geek geek geek geek.... LOL

Photo bot machines

In the game centers there are not only UFO machines and arcade games but also photo both machines. So if you ever go to Japan, grab you friends and go take some photos.

The Japanese photo both machines are so much fun. You can find several different ones around Akihabara and they are very popular among yunger people.

You just pay 400 yen and you and your friends can take some photos. You can chose from so many different  styles and themes and then the photographing begins. In the end you just add some cute decorations and print!

You can also send the picture to your phone, but currently not many support our phones so it is good to have a Japanese friend with you. :3

Shopping spree

Shopping spree

Sorry guys for not keeping you updated about my jurney to Japan. The last few days have been very busy and also tiring for both me and Dejan.

Well anyways...

Because me and Dejan are otaku, we spend most of our time here in Tokyo looking for anime/manga goods. We were planning on saving our money for the last few days, but sometimes you just can't resist.
We spent the last 4 days shopping in many popular places with anime merchandise. We also visited the famous comic market called Comiket!

Comiket

Comiket is is the world's largest self-published comic fair in the world that is held twice a year in Tokyo, Japan. For me the comic market was more of a battle field than a fair. There were so many otaku searching for their favourite marchendise. Most of the items sold there are considered very rare and can sometimes be found on the intertnet for more than 10 times more expensive.

The fair is divided into three sections: original book, merchendise and cosplay.
We first went to the merchandise section and Dejan bought some tapestry for his room, but he was not the only one to spend his money on otaku goods. The first day of Comiket was yaoi day, so I managed to get some myself. ≧(´▽`)≦

When we bought everything we needed we slowly fought our way to the cosplay section. There were so many amazing cosplayers and we were also able to take some nice shots.

Because the fair was very crowded, Dejan did not feel comfortable and decided to not join me and my friend Takahito on the last two days of the market and decided to go to Nakano instead.

Nakano

Nakano is a part of Tokyo that is very famous for its shopping mall. There you can find many interesting, mostly second hand stores that sell everything from clothes, electronics to anime figures and manga.
Dejan probably had a really good time there, as he bought enough figures to fill our whole room. He also bought me some and made me very very happy. (Now I have a new PreCure figure for my colection)

Well, when he told me how cheap some figures can be, we decided to go there again the next day with Takahito. And it was not a bad decision too, since I was able to buy some figures for myself.

I was trying to be cheap, but on the shelves something got my attention. A very big black box. Oh may... it was Remilia Scarlet. It was a never before opened figure in a second hand store sold for a very cheap price, so I took it without hesitation. It was a must buy! I regret nothing! ( ̄ヘ ̄)

Here are some pictures of the items we bought in Nakano, enjoy!

Day 1: Dejans bounty

Day 2: Look at Remilia, my new waifu <3

Akihabara

I know I alredy mentioned this part of Tokyo, but these last days we took our time and actually went to do some serious shopping. To be honest... Dejan was the one spending all his money. We found so many awsome stores and were able to buy notepads, pencils, posters, figures, card holders, key chans, food, comics, manga and much more.

For us otaku these were truly places to be, but there is only one problem... How are we going to ship all this back to Slovenia?  (     ゚ ▽ ゚ ;)

We will see....

Meeting new and old friends

sobota, 11. avgust 2012

I have already spent some days in Tokyo and I must say, I am loving every second of it. Me and Dejan have seen so many interesting things, we were a part of not only their modern but also old culture.

Me and Dejan near Asakusa!

But well, our trip is not only about seeing Tokyo, but also to meet new and also old friends.

One of them is Takahito. He is my penfriend from Osaka that came to Tokyo for the comic market also known as Comiket. We were finally able to meet each other in real life. We have been talking on Skype for quite some time now.

We saw each other for the first time on the 9th August, one day before the big convention. We decided to meet in Akihabara, because for an otaku that is the best place to be. He took me and Dejan to eat ramen and it was my first time trying it. I must say it is very delicious!

Me eating ramen!

Together we went to Comiket and after that we would always go back to Akihabara to eat lunch and have a good time.

These have been one of the nicest days in my life, even if he only speaks a little English and I only speak basic Japanese we managed to have a conversation all the time. If it became too hard to understand, we helped each other with google translate (on his phone). ^____^

Me and Takahito in Akihabara.

But sadly he is going home one day sooner than planed, so tomorrow will probably be our last day together.

But he is not the only person I met in Tokyo. I have made a lot of new friends, not only from Japan but also from Thailand, France, Germany and America.

These are also some pictures we took with people we met. Sadly we did not have time to take a picture with everyone, but maybe we will do that later! :)

My friend from Thailand! (She let me borrow her Yukata)

This is Yusuke, who we met in the hostel!

Tokyo is very exciting for me! I made a lot of new friends and I hope we will say in touch even after we part our ways!

Looking for temples (day 4 and 5 in Japan)

četrtek, 9. avgust 2012

Day 4 and a bit of day 5!

Today me and Dejan went for a very long walk around Taito city. Tokyo is very nice if you are a lover of anime and manga, but also want to see a bit of their old traditional culture, because you can find many temples in shrines hidden betwen the Tokyo streets.

Our first destination would be the Sumida River, but we decided to research a bit. We went in to some side streets and found a shrine. We probably wouldn't go inside, but there was a very nice old man that opened the door and showed us in.

The shrine was dedicated to Hiraga Gennai, a famous Japanese scholar and author from the middle of the Edo period.

We continued our walk to the river, and when we finnaly arrived to our destination we decided to sit down and eat our breakfast. It felt nice to sit outside and because of the wind it did not feel as hot as the other days.

We went on a long the river side and saw many people (mostly tourists). Everyone was taking pictures of the highest tower in the world called Tokyo Skytree, so we decided to do the same!

We also saw many interesting people along the way. Many girls were wearing the Japanese traditional clothing Yukata and some even agreed to take a picture with me.

We also saw another very cute Lolita that also agreed on taking a picture with me. She was very suprised and at the same time very happy. She even told me that I am very kawaii! ;u; Soooo nice!

That day we also went by the Soji temple. We noticed the market and many people so we decided to take a peek. It was amazing, they were selling so many traditional Japanese stuff like food, candy, clothing and even chopsticks. Me and Dejan also bought a pair for ourselfes!

We also got the chance to experience the Japanese traditions and we enjoyed it very much (even though I got a bad fortune... T____T ).

And just when we thought the day couldn't get any better, we managed to get new friends at the hostel and we had a very very long conversation. One of them is from Japan and just moved from Osaka to Tokyo and has yet to find an apartment. It was trully a nice way to end the day.

The next day, we continued our search for temples within the city, but this time in Nippori.
We saw quite a few and even some that aren't even marked on the guide map.

It would be pointless to just write down what we saw so here are some photographs that we managed to take:
